LESOTHO PASSPORTS CRISIS DISCUSSED

Maseru, Apr. 16 — The Minister of Local Government, Chieftainship Home Affairs and Police, Mr. Lebona Lephema addressed the ongoing issues with passport processing in the country at a Law and Public Safety Cluster Committee sitting on Tuesday.

In a statement to the cluster Mr. Lephema clarified the source of passport processing delays, stating that they had a middleman who caused disruptions in the process.

He however stated that they are now working straight with the service providers, which has smoothed out some of the issues.

Again he said they had problems with the letter of credit which was hard for them to find in order to pay the suppliers which delayed their ability to get the process moving.
