Maseru, April 19 — There are less attacks on people with albinism in the country than in other African countries, the Independent Expert on the Enjoyment of Human Rights by Persons with Albinism has said.
This was said by Ms. Muluka –Anne Miti Drummond of the United Nations when sharing findings with regard to the state of people with albinism in the country. She said this at a press conference held in Maseru today, Friday.
According to the expert, although there are no recorded statistics, there are fewer reports of attacks on people with albinism, thus putting Lesotho at a better state than other countries.
She stipulated that the fact that the government invited them to come and conduct research in the districts of Maseru and Thaba-Tseka, has given them a picture of the current situation, whereby a number of challenges were also discovered.
