Qacha’s Nek, Sep.02 — The Lesotho National Olympic Committee (LNOC) is preparing to give Olympian Tebello Ramakongoana the grandest welcome as he returns home on Wednesday following his impressive third-place finish at the Sydney Marathon in Australia.
LNOC has extended an open invitation to the public to gather at Moshoeshoe I International Airport to celebrate his international success.
Speaking to the Agency, Mr. Pulumo Nchakha, LNOC’s Communications and Marketing Officer said the celebration aims to honour his exceptional achievement on the global stage and rally support ahead of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
He expressed the organization’s pride and excitement.

“He is still under the LNOC Olympic scholarship, and this performance marks another milestone on his journey to LA 2028.
We are preparing a full convoy with the entire sporting fraternity and a press conference at the LNOC offices where he will share his experiences. We invite all Basotho to come and show our champ the love he deserves. Let’s make tomorrow unforgettable.” Mr. Nchakha said
Olympian Ramakongoana, originally from Ha Mohlapiso, Qacha’s Nek, continues to inspire a new generation of athletes.
Local authorities, however, seemed caught off guard by his return. District Sports Officer, Mr. Khetsana Masiu, admitted he was unaware of the homecoming but welcomed the update.
“Now that you’ve informed me, I will speak to my superiors and see what we can do. His performance shows that Qacha’sNek has untapped talent. I believe we should establish a marathon team in the district to groom future champions,” Mr. Masiu said, adding that his background in sports science could help guide such an initiative.
“He can plant a seed here to inspire many,” he said.
