LOCAL ATHLETES OUT TO SMASH NATIONAL RECORDS

Maseru, Aug 22 — Two local distance runners Mokulubete Makatisi and Tebello Ramakongoana are expected to smash national records at the ongoing World Athletics Championships held in Budapest, Hungary which started on August 19 to 27.

Federation of Athletics Federation (FAL) Secretary General Mr. Makara Thilinyane told the Agency on Tuesday that the duo is in top form and raring to compete against the best in the world.

Mr. Thilinyane said Makatisi and Ramakongoana proved their worth in Tunisia at the African Beach Games where they won silver medals early this year where they defeated the Kenyans and Ethiopians by finishing in third positions.

“They have both qualified by World Athletics rankings and not by direct entry,” he explained.
