Mokhotlong Aug. 06 — All members of the community, especially men have been encouraged to support mothers to breastfeed children until they are two years old emphasising exclusive breastfeeding for six months.
The Senior District Nutrition Officer, Ms. Tholoana Masupha from Department of Health said this during a health talk at the World Breastfeeding Week celebration held at Masaleng in the district on Tuesday.
Ms. Masupha said it is important for fathers to support mothers to breastfeed their children as recommended because the mother’s milk can help to protect babies against diseases.
She added that breastfeeding is also encouraged because it contains nutrients necessary for the children to grow well.
