Maseru, June 15 — The Minister of Tourism, Sports, Arts and Culture Mr Motlatsi Maqelepo has called on the businesses community, corporates and individuals at home and abroad to sponsor the national team (Likuena) as it is currently supported by FIFA.
This he said in his statement, saying Likuena’s performance is bringing the country closer to the national sports policy which aims to unite the nation through sports and recreation by enhancing the national identity and pride through excellent sports performance and contributing to the country’s socio-economic development.
“Basotho, those with the power to influence and make decisions in business, Likuena needs your support,” he appealed, saying a good performance from the national team will positively impact the entire country, particularly in peacebuilding and socio-economic development.
He also indicated that Likuena is doing well under challenging circumstances despite being the underdog in a group with African powerhouses, Nigeria and South Africa as it sits above Nigeria after four games and is well-positioned to climb higher in the next round.
