Maseru, Sept. 19 — The Minister of Education and Training Professor Ntoi Rapapa stood before the House of the Senate to propose the second reading of the Centre For Accounting Studies Bill, 2023.
Giving the Objectives of the Bill, Prof. Rapapa said it is to legally establish and continue in existence the Centre for Accounting Studies as a higher education public institution that provides professional training in accounting, business studies and business-related disciplines at college level and also to provide for the powers and functions of the centre.
The Minister further stated that the Bill establishes structures of governance of the institution as well as its functions and powers for the purpose of maintaining good governance and compliance with the provisions of Higher Education Act, 2004 and other relevant laws.
In conclusion, he said the Bill clarifies the role and responsibilities of key personnel that play a pivotal role in the general management and administration of the centre and provides for the enactment of subordinate laws meant to provide guidance on the processes adopted in the centre.
