NATIONAL ASSEMBLY SUSPENDS BUSINESS

Maseru, Aug. 22 — The proceedings of the National Assembly were suspended on Friday to pay respects to the late Prof. Lehlohonolo Banda Burns Jiane (LBBJ) Machobane, whose funeral service was held on the same day.

The Speaker of the National Assembly Mr. Tlohang Sekhamane told Members of Parliament (MPs) that it would not be elegant to continue with the proceedings while the King is leading the official funeral of the late Pro. Machobane.

He said he received the message in the early hours of Friday that Prof. Machobane will be laid to rest on this day, saying he could have notified the MPs earlier if he received the message on time.

He therefore adjourned the House until Monday next week.

Meanwhile the funeral service of the late Prof. Machobane, who is the former Minister of Education and Training is underway.
