Botha-Bothe, Jan. 27 — In the ongoing celebration of the revival torch’s presence in the district, Mr. Mathe-a-lira Seholoholo, the Deputy Chairperson of Project RE, took the opportunity today to enlighten the youth about the intricate design philosophy behind the torch.
Mr. Seholoholo unveiled that the revival torch is ingeniously crafted in the form of a rhino horn. This design choice is rooted in the historical significance of rhino horns symbolizing chieftainship and power. Furthermore, it was revealed that Chief Mohlomi once utilized a rhino horn to tame the wild Moshoeshoe I, subsequently leading to his appointment as a chief.
Highlighting the symbolic elements, Mr. Seholoholo explained, “The revival torch also incorporates designs inspired by the various forms of the Basotho hat (Mokorokotlo). From incomplete hats to those that have been torn and up to new and finished hats, each represents a facet of the Basotho nation. . .
