Maseru, Oct. 16 — Tributes have been pouring in as former Kenyan Prime Minister (PM) Raila Odinga passes on at the age of 80.
According to President William Ruto’s statement, Odinga died on Wednesday while receiving medical treatment in India.
Earlier on, Odinga’s family had denied allegations of his ill-health, while the Indian hospital has confirmed the course of death as cardiac arrest, and failed to resuscitate him despite attempts to. This follows his collapse during a routine morning walk where he was taken to Devamatha hospital.
Kenya has declared a seven-day mourning period which will be followed by a state funeral.
