KHETHENG MURDER TRIAL MOVES TO NOVEMBER

Maseru, Oct. 16 — A case in which four police officers are charged with the murder of their colleague, Police Constable Mokalekale Khetheng has been postponed to November 04, 06, 10-11 and 13, 2025 for continuation.

The postponement comes as a third defence witness, Retired Superintendent Thabo Tsúkulu, also one of the accused, was on the stand entering his own defence.

The defence began to present its case on Monday. This was after the prosecution closed its case and an application for discharge moved by the accused in terms of Section 175 (3) of Criminal Procedure and Evidence Act 1981 was dismissed by the court.

According to the section: ‘If at the close of the case for the prosecution, the court considered that there is no evidence that the accused committed the offence charged in the charge, or any other offence of which he might be convicted thereon, the court may return a verdict of not guilty’.
