Maseru, Aug. 14 — As part of activities prior to the 45th Ordinary Southern African Development Community (SADC) on August 17, SADC and the Government of the United States of America on Wednesday engaged in discussions aimed at establishing guidelines for their future cooperation at Antananarivo, Madagascar.
Lesotho’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Relations Deputy Principal Secretary Foreign Mrs. Limpho Masilo – Motsamai led the country’s delegation to the meeting.
In her opening remarks, SADC Deputy Executive Secretary for Regional Integration, Angeles N’Tumba, stated that this first of its kind meeting would focus on key areas such as peace and security, health, the economy, and the management of natural resources, including energy and minerals.
She reaffirmed that SADC’s integration agenda is anchored in Vision 2050 and guided by the Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan (RISDP) 2020-2030, which prioritises peace and security, industrialisation, infrastructure, and social & human development.
