WORLD POPULATION DAY COMMEMORATED

Maseru, July 11 — The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has on Thursday together with other partners commemorated the World population day in Maseru.

While conveying her welcome remarks, the Principal Secretary for the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning Ms. Nthoateng Lebona said that this day is aimed at raising awareness on population statistics to the government and public sector organisations for purposes of developments such on matters related to Sexual Health Reproductive education, family planning and  maternal health to mention a few.

She mentioned that well collected data can be useful to the government, the Public sector and other organisations on issues surrounding planning.

Ms. Lebona said that this year should be used for reflection on how far Lesotho is and where it is going on matters of inclusion especially for the marginalised population groups.
