Maseru, April 12 — Information Communication Technology (ICT) Director, Mr. Khiba Masiu in the Ministry of Information says, zero rating on educational websites is vital in promoting technology.
Zero rating is the practice of ensuring internet access without financial cost under certain conditions, that include permitting access to only certain websites or by subsidising service with advertising, the Director explained to the Agency.
Mr. Masiu alluded that educational websites that include those belonging to schools help in enhancing knowledge to students outside the classroom, saying they are critical in that they are made for education, research especially for students.
Therefore, he said if the country is to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) in line with technology and innovation, these are some of the things to look into hence the Ministry is in support of measures such as these ones. AM/TL
