MAPOTENG MASTERMINDS DONATE SCHOOL SHOES, SANITARY TOWELS TO STUDENTS

Berea, March 6 — A youth group known as Mapoteng Masterminds continued its annual initiative of giving back to the community by donating school shoes and sanitary towels to students hosted at Dahon High School today.

The group, made up of young people from Mapoteng, hosts a fundraising bash every year on December 26. Proceeds from the event are used to purchase school shoes for students in need across local schools.

Speaking during the handover, the organizer representing Mapoteng Masterminds, Mr. Libeo Monethi, said the initiative brings them great joy as it allows them to support learners and restore their confidence.

“This annual give-away brings so much joy to us as it is our way of giving back to the community and ensuring that students regain their confidence and feel like other learners, even when they are facing challenges,” he said.

Mr. Monethi explained that the first phase of the donation will benefit 151 students from 26 schools, with six students selected from each school.

He further noted that a second batch of the initiative will extend support to 96 students from 16 schools, with six students from each school also receiving assistance.

The initiative aims to ease the burden on vulnerable families while ensuring that learners have the basic necessities needed to attend school comfortably and with dignity.
