OVER 1400 PASSPORTS UNCOLLECTED IN QACHA’S NEK

Qacha’s Nek, Aug. 28 — The Department of Passport Services under the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftainship, Home Affairs and Police, led by Mr. Matita Mantsoe reports that 1,441 passports remain uncollected in Qacha’s Nek with some having already expired.

Mr. Mantsoe noted that after applying for passports many people move to Durban and do not return, while others only come back during the Christmas holidays, leaving their passports uncollected.

“We have exhausted our efforts to reach out to them, using social media and radio announcements, but have had no luck,” he said.

Due to reduced stock production, the department has limited passport applications of about 20 per day. “It is not a challenge as in a day, we do not get more than 10 applications,” he said.
