QUTHING SMALL STOCK FARMERS PREPARE FOR NATIONAL SHOW

Quthing, April 03 — Small stock farmers from fifteen (15) wool-shed in Quthing will compete on rearing of merino sheep and angora goats at the district small-stock show to be held at Moyeni wool-shed in Quthing on April 18th.

In an interview the Chairperson of Quthing Wool and Mohair Growers Association Mr. Moabi Motlohi said the district show is intended to prepare for a two-day national small stock show scheduled to be held in Maseru from April 25.

He noted that the competition will be on among others hybrid ewe, dorset

, kids, lambs, rams and bucks, and best wool and mohair produced by the different categories of merino sheep and angora goats. 

The District Wool and Mohair Growers Association Chairperson further said the district show will also be a platform to identify best small stock to represent the district at the national event where all districts would have chosen their best small stock for the completion and expected to beat others.

Mr. Motlohi added that winners of the competition will be awarded prizes to be decided by the district show committee while other prizes will be from partners of the National Wool and Mohair Growers Association.   

The District small stock show is an annual event held in all districts prior to the national event. Quthing district won position four (4) at the national small stock held in Maseru last year.
