Maseru, July 20 — Deployment of members of the Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) at Rothe has ontributed immensely towards killings of people in this area.
This was said by Chief Ratau Tsautse of Khutlo Peli Hara Nkhelepe at Rothe in an interview with the Agency, saying killings of people at Rothe have deteriorated since deployment of LDF members coupled with recent Prime Minister’s move to declare some Famo groups illegal.
He said most families lost their loved ones since 2017 due to Famo groups who killed one another for no reasons, saying some people even left their homes in fear of their lives.
“There are no more households in villages like Ha Rampai and Ha Mokaoli due to killings of people,” he said, calling for deployment of more LDF members and Lesotho Mounted Police Service post to be made available at villages far from the tarred road as perpetrators who engage in these act always flee because the police station is far from other villages.
In another issue, he said Rothe like other places is currently facing a challenge of gangsterism, calling on villagers to unite with community policing committees and the police to combat this challenge.
Meanwhile, it was reported that a number of people lost their lives in Rothe in relation to Famo groups and South African based illegal mining issues.
