Maseru, Nov.19 — The much-anticipated ‘Mother of Hard Enduro,’ the Roof of Africa race, which officially kicks off in Maseru on Friday, continues to draw enormous attention even from young aspiring riders.
Speaking to the Agency on Wednesday, 15-year-old Bafokeng Mphoka said his passion for motorcycling was inspired by his father from a very young age.
He explained that ever since he was able to ride on his own, his interest in the race has grown stronger each year.
He said that when he is finally of age, he hopes to participate in the Roof of Africa, adding that he learns a skill or two annually from watching the champions compete.

Mphoka acknowledged that motorcycling is often considered a dangerous sport but believes that with proper practice and experience, riders can master the necessary techniques and improve their safety.
He further encouraged girls to take part in the sport, noting that learning to ride at an early stage builds confidence and makes it easier to perfect advanced skills later on.

Meanwhile, international rider Sandra Gómez of Spain, who has competed in global hard enduro events, said she has previously earned different medals and is now aiming for gold in this year’s race. . .
