Leribe, Aug, — Women celebrated themselves within all societal spheres in closing women’s month celebrated annually in August.
Yesterday the streets of Hlotse were oozing with women dressed in their traditional attires with confidence yet challenges are still part their lives.
Speaking in an interview with the Agency Mrs. Maitumeleng Moisa said the month always marks the importance of a woman in every sector of society.
She said despite the challenges such as abuse, lack of financial freedom and gender inequality, they appreciate being recognized.
Also interviewed, Mrs. ‘Malimpho Pokali said most women are still not given access to financial freedom by their spouses.
She highlighted that many are not working, and they do not have the capital to start the businesses they want.
However, another one, Mrs. Rebecca Thoote said men are still holding higher positions than women.
She said managerial positions are not open to women except if they go through those sexual relationships in exchange for better positions.
Thoote said this is not experienced only in Lesotho but the whole world.
Today Sebothoane women will gather at Sebothoane Community playground to close the month, whereby women will be given an opportunity to lay out problems they encounter daily.
