WVL CAPACITATE JOURNALISTS ON CHILD LABOUR ISSUES

Berea, Oct. 23 — World Vision Lesotho (WVL) has engaged at least 35 journalists from different media houses into a two days training at Teyateyaneng on issues such as Trafficking in Persons (TIP), Disability and Child Labour.

This was confirmed by WVL Advocacy Partnering External Engagement Lead, Mrs. Maseisa Ntlama during an interview with the Agency.

Mrs. Ntlama pointed out that since the post COVID-19 pandemic, it crossed their minds that many parents have lost their jobs and the conditions have forced them to become migrant workers in South Africa and unfortunately leaving behind children vulnerable to all sorts of abuse.

She further said the worst part is that some households are child-headed, while others children are left with elderly people who cannot even afford to put bread on the table or cater for their basic needs and even reprimand them when they show unacceptable behaviors.
