BASOTHO FLEA MARKET GAINS MOMENTUM

Maseru, Apr. 27 — A month after its launch on March 30 (last month), Basotho Flea Market seems to be gaining momentum as the number of stalls has increased from 300 to 500 this month.

The Flea Market held along Kingsway road from near Nedbank headquarters to Lancers Inn saw local producers with different products including clothes, dried fruits, sauces, mozzarella cheese, juice, milk, vegetables, wine, body creams and accessories to mention a few. It is organized by Basotho Enterprises Development Cooperation (BEDCO) in collaboration with Smallholder Agriculture Development Project II (SADP II).

In a brief interview one Mrs. Maqajela Lebona who knits hats, mats and do beading of all kinds saying this gives them an opportunity to market their products.

She said that she believes that if this is held monthly then their products will be known, saying that now Basotho knows where they can get different products that they need. She said that there is talent in Lesotho and events like this helps them to unleash and market their talents.
