EQUITY RULES COME WITH CHALLENGES-SEFUTHI

Maseru, Mar. 06 — Despite the implementation of Disability and Equity Rules of 2023, the judicial system in Lesotho continues to present significant challenges for Persons With Disabilities (PWDs).

This is according to Lesotho National Federation of Organisations of the Disabled (LNFOD) Executive Director Adv. Nkhasi Sefuthi, saying the above-mentioned rules were designed to guide courts in handling cases involving marginalized groups.

 He said justice dispensers still struggle to  accommodate people with disabilities due to a variety of systemic barriers,which include lack of intermediaries and translators, insufficient in-camera facilities, lack of awareness among legal professionals as well as accessibility challenges…
