LOW VOTING TURNOUT AT MMC 02/5

Maseru, Sept. 29 — Off the 1136 people that were expected to cast their votes at Maseru Municipal Council 02/5 Mookoli Polling Station, only 106 people voted for local government elections.

This was disclosed by the Presiding Officer Ms. Lipolelo Nkate in an interview with the Agency at the above-mentioned polling station immediately after it closed at exactly 17:00 p.m.

Ms. Nkate said most of the people who voted were middle aged ( from 35 years upwards) saying there were no people standing on the queues when the station closed.

She also said the election process ran smoothly without any challenges, indicating that all electoral materials were available.

She further indicated that after counting the ballot papers, they will be transported to MMC 02 offices.

Meanwhile there were 15 candidates and 16 political parties contesting for elections at this polling station.
