MEANINGFUL CONNECTIVITY, PATHWAY TO ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY – MOOROSI

Maseru, Nov. 19 — Minister of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation says Lesotho believes that meaningful connectivity is not only access but it is the pathway to economic opportunity, efficient public services, resilient societies and a sustainable future.

Ms. Nthati Moorosi said this during a high level meeting of World Telecommunication Development Conference themed, ‘Universal, meaningful and affordable connectivity for an inclusive and sustainable digital future’ hosted by the government of Azerbaijan in Baku. The conference is scheduled to run from November 17 to 28.

She said, they recognise that meaningful connectivity also requires digital skills, affordability and community empowerment.

She highlighted that in response to this, Lesotho has established the Community Digital Inclusion Model, originally launched with UNDP and now fully managed through the Universal Service Fund.
