Maseru, Aug.30— Following suspension of operations at the Mothae Mine in April this year, the Mothae Board of Directors has resolved to formalise and implement a care and maintenance programme for the mine in September this year.
According to a communication from management addressed to staff, the implementation of the programme will result in all employees being effectively retrenched on August 31, 2025. It adds that the August 2025 salaries will be paid at 50 percent of normal salary adding that the provident fund deductions for July and August will be settled soon.
“Applications will then be made with Alliance and RSL for the soonest withdrawal of your invested funds”‘, says the management adding that the process will take approximately a month to complete.
The staff members have been informed that accrued severance benefits will be settled in monthly instalments from September 2025. They were further told that a care and maintenance team made up of 40 employees with new fixed term contracts, yet to be entered into, will be assembled…SM/BM
