POLIHALI STRIKE CONTINUES

Maseru, July 24 — Strike of workers at Polihali Dam under the second phase of the Lesotho Highlands Water Project (LHWP) which started last week Wednesday is still continuing. The Agency has discovered.

Speaking in an interview on Monday, Lesotho Workers Association (LEWA) Secretary General, Mr. Hlalefang Seoaholimo said that amongst others the workers are demanding salary increment as per the minimum wage gazette for 2023/24.

He said that they are also demanding accommodation allowances, and for workers to be paid for the positions they hold citing that if a labourer is promoted to be an operator such a person should get a salary for the position promoted to. He added that they also demand that salaries for operators and drivers be different as they do different work.
