PUBLIC URGED TO STOP STOCK THEFT

Mokhotlong, Oct. 15 — The public has been urged to strive for peace within communities by stopping crime such as stock theft which is a major challenge in the district.

The District Administrator for Mokhotlong, Mr. Serame Linake made a strong appeal when addressing the public at a gathering that was held at Mphelebeko within the Moeketsane area in the district on Sunday.

Mr. Linake said it is only when the community strives for peace that developments can be implemented to improve the living conditions of the communities.

He said his office is concerned at the rate at which stocktheft is being reported hence the decision to address the public about the issue.

Mr. Linake also urged members of the public who are in possession of illegal firearms to hand them over to the police before the end of this week to avoid legal measures to be taken against them.

Meanwhile, Chief Moeketsane Moeketsane thanked the DA for holding the public gathering in the area and also urged the public to stop crime for socio-economic development.

The gathering was attended by the public from different villages within the Moeketsane area.
