SENATORS CALL FOR IMMEDIATE BAN ON HUBBLY-BUBBLY USE

Maseru, Nov. 04 — Following the tabling of the prohibition of hubbly-bubbly use by the Principal Chief of Mamathe, PC Sempe Khabasheane Masupha, members of the Senate have expressed deep concern over the growing health risks the product poses to young people.

Senators spoke with one voice, urging the Government and its partners to take urgent action to ban the sale, distribution, and use of hubbly-bubbly across the country.

Speaking before the House, Principal Chief Khoabane Theko stressed that hubbly-bubbly smoking has caused immense harm to people not only in Lesotho but globally. He emphasised that making its use illegal would help safeguard the youth, who are the nation’s future leaders.

Echoing the same sentiment, Senator Mabataung Mokhathali appealed for shared responsibility in tackling the issue. . .
