Maseru, Feb. 05 — A case in which two army members are charged with the murder of Lisebo Tang, which occurred near the residence of Former Army Commander Tlali Kamoli in 2014, has yet again hit another brick wall as prosecutor Advocate Motene Rafoneke withdraws his services because of unpaid fees.
The case was initially delayed when a foreign judge who was part of those appointed to hear high profile cases in the country, Justice Kabelo Lebotse resigned in 2020. The resignation came at an advanced stage of the case whereby the court had acquitted one of the accused Private Kopano Matsoso and ruled that two other accused Corporal Tjekane Sebolai and Private Selone Ratsiu have a case to answer.
The case was then allocated to Chief Justice Sakoane Sakoane who decided that it should start afresh in 2023.
The withdrawal by the prosecutor comes as the defence has filed an application for discharge following completion of the crown case and the court was about to hear arguments on the said application.
