Maseru, Dec. 21 — Santa came early for Thetsane vulnerable community as their Member of Parliament (MP) and also the Minister of Information, Communication, Science, Technology and Innovation Ms. Nthati Moorosi showered them with food parcels and assistive device at the event held at the constituency on Sunday.
The gifts, which included amongst others, maize and wheat flour, rice, soaps and eggs were presented to 150 households with one of persons with disabilities receiving a wheelchair.
Presenting the gifts, Ms. Moorosi said it was the will of God that she celebrated Christmas with vulnerable households.
She said unavailability of fields at ha Thetsane contributes towards vulnerability of villagers as they are bound to buy everything, including flour.
However, she indicated that the community came up with the initiative of establishing a company which produces bags so that they could be self-reliant.
She also updated the community on current and upcoming developments within the constituency, which include installation of apollo lights and rehabilitation of inroads amongst others.
On behalf of beneficiaries, Mrs. Mapaballo Morori expressed gratitude over the gesture, saying they will have a merry Christmas as they will have something to put on the table.
“May God bless you and continue extending a helping hand to other vulnerable people” she expressed.
Revolution for Prosperity (RFP) Chief Executive Officer Mr. Boi Mohapi commended Ms. Moorosi for giving back to the community, appealing to beneficiaries to support her so that she should continue extending a helping hand.
“We wish other MPs could observe your kindness and perform similar acts in their constituencies” he said.
Ms. Moorosi, who is also RFP Secretary General, was presenting gifts to vulnerable people for the third time in three consecutive years. She will later celebrate with elderly people at her home.
