Maseru, Jan. 15 — The appointment of Mrs. ’Mapeete Ntjana as Managing Director of Maluti Mountain Brewery (MMB) marks a significant milestone for gender equality and sustainable development in Lesotho.
Mrs. Ntjana has made history as the first Mosotho woman to lead MMB, one of the country’s flagship manufacturing companies.
Speaking in an interview with the Agency on Thursday, the brewing company’s Corporate Affairs Manager, Mrs. ’Mapulumo Mosisili confirmed that Mrs. Ntjana officially resumed her duties on January, 01.
She mentioned that Mrs. Ntjana has more than 15 years of leadership experience across the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) and manufacturing sectors and she brings a proven track record in performance management, corporate governance, and building high-performing teams.
She indicated that she is a Chartered Accountant, an MBA finalist and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration from the Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS).
Her appointment strongly aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 5 on Gender Equality, which calls for women’s full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision-making in political, economic, and public life.
By breaking barriers in a traditionally male-dominated industry, Mrs. Ntjana’s leadership also contributes to SDG 8 onDecent Work and Economic Growth, as inclusive leadership has been shown to drive productivity, innovation and sustainable economic performance. Furthermore, her role supports SDG 9 on Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure, by strengthening locally driven leadership within Lesotho’s manufacturing sector, and SDG 10 on Reduced Inequalities, through the promotion of equal opportunities regardless of gender.
Her appointment signals a new chapter of locally rooted and inclusive leadership at MMB, while serving as a powerful inspiration to young women and girls across Lesotho to pursue leadership roles in business, finance, and industry.
As Lesotho continues to align national development priorities with the global SDG agenda, Mrs. Ntjana’s rise to the helm of MMB stands as a practical example of how empowering women in leadership can accelerate sustainable development and social transformation.
