Maseru, June 15 — The 50 units of blood collected during Blood Donor day is still not enough based on demand, Lesotho Blood Transfusion Services (LBTS) Principal Laboratory Technologists Mr. Khotso Kalake has said.
Mr. Kalake said the blood collected will only sustain for a day, indicating that although it has not been classified yet, they are still faced with a challenge of blood group O as its demand remains high but is always limited.
He added that all negative blood groups are also in demand but limited, urging people to donate blood and save lives.
Meanwhile, in commemoration of blood donor day, World Health Organization Regional Director, Dr. Matshidiso Moeti in her statement indicated that blood transfusion plays a critical role in the provision of lifesaving health care.
