Maseru, Dec.13 — The controversy which surrounded the 2020 African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region 5 Youth Games has left the residents of Hata-Butle Roma in misery.
Lesotho hosted the games almost two years ago (December 03 to 13) but plans for hosting were abandoned.
This resulted in the earthworks at the area being left incomplete when the construction companies engaged in the excavation abandoned the project for construction of a 3 000 unit games village, a 4 000 football and athletic stadium and the National University of Lesotho (NUL) recreational centre as well as the tennis courts.
The plan was also to construct a 1 200 unit for residency as well as renovation of the already existing 1 800 units at the campus.
