LeFA LOSES ANOTHER NATIONAL COACH THROUGH DEATH

Maseru, Feb. 19 — The Lesotho Football Association (LeFA) has been plunged into mourning again with the untimely passing of Lesotho women’s national soccer team Mehalalitoe coach, Mr. Pule Khojane after a short illness.

LeFA Media Officer, Mr. Mikia Kalati told the Agency on Monday that the Berea born Khojane, who has been in charge of the Lesotho Women’s national team over the last two years, passed on on Saturday as the football community in the Kingdom, gathered in his home town of Teyateyaneng, to pay their last respects to former Likuena coach Mr. Moses Maliehe.

He said apart from his role as the Mehalalitoe coach, Mr. Khojane was a highly rated LeFA and Confederation of African Football (CAF)’s Coach Educator, who got to be handed the responsibility of facilitating the first CAF A Licence Coaching Diploma since CAF halted its coaching course in 2017 when the continental body called for a Coaching convention to review and standardize coaching content across the continent.

He said LeFA invested heavily on the late Khojane, who just in November last year attended the FIFA/CAF Regional Pathway Coach Educators Development Programme on-site Course in Ghana.

He said the LeFA President Advocate Salemane Phafane (KC), on behalf of the football fraternity in the Kingdom conveyed his sincere condolences and heartfelt sorrow to his family, Mehalitoe players and officials, friends, Rovers FC, NULIS, where he worked as a teacher and the football fraternity at large.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved family, friends, Rovers FC, Mehalalitoe players and management for the untimely death of a very talented football technician,’’ LeFA President was quoted.

Mr. Khojane died on the day the former Likuena head coach Mr. Maliehe was laid to rest in his home town of Berea.

Mr. Khojane has also coached Rovers and Sky Battalion which are campaigning in the lower divisions.
