Maseru, Sept 18 – Professor Kopano Francis Makoa says agenda for the local government elections has never been clear as a result, these elections will continue to be meaningless.
Lesotho’s Political Scientist shared these sentiments a few days ahead of local government elections, when voters will cast their vote and elect Community Councillors of their choice in their respective councils.
According to Professor Makoa, it remains clear at this position that unlike general polls, when politicians held intensive campaigns, this time even politicians themselves do not want such commitment as campaigns ahead of elections are not that forceful.
“A clearly articulated plan of these elections, inclusive of the communities and their different needs is key if these elections are to be meaningful, this is to say effective implementation that really addresses the needs of different communities is vital,” he stressed.
