SECURITY AGENCY BOSSES UNDERFIRE

Maseru, Oct 17 – The security agency bosses from the Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS), Lesotho Defence Force (LDF) and the National Security Service (NSS) are under fire following the statement they made on state owned Lesotho Television on Monday.

Leaders of opposition held a press conference outside the new Parliament building on Tuesday in which they condemned the statement, citing that it was uncalled for the security bosses to make such statement in the wake of the motion of no confidence to the Government and Prime Minister Mr. Ntsokoane Matekane.

Addressing the media at the media briefing Mr. Mathibeli Mokhothu said the security bosses have overstepped their boundaries and strongly warned them that they were going to suffer the consequences of their acts.

“The statement made by these security agencies was an attempt to overthrow the government,” he reiterated.

He described the statement as a direct threat to the opposition political leaders after filing the motion of no confidence to the Government and the Prime Minister.
