BLOOD BANK RUNS DRY

Maseru, Jan. 06 — Although Lesotho Blood Transfusion Services (LBTS) supplied enough blood to hospitals over Christmas holidays, the blood bank is currently running dry.

LBTS Donor Recruiter, Ms. Rethabile Ntlobo told the Agency in an interview that they failed to supply some hospitals with blood last week due to shortage, saying they are also experiencing shortage in O-positive.

Ms. Ntlobo said most of the blood that was collected prior christmas holidays was used as many accidents were reported and some patients were in need of it.

She said they intend to open clinics for blood donations countrywide, starting at Teyateyaneng in Berea this week.
