DEFENCE INSIST ON ACCESS TO DOCUMENTS

Maseru, Oct.14— The defence in a case in which four police officers are charged with the murder of their colleague, Police Constable Mokalekale Khetheng insist that they need occurrence books from the Leribe Police in order to properly present their case.

The defence has told the court that their repeated efforts to obtain the documents from the prosecution remain unsuccessful. They insisted that the documents are essential for their case.

Despite this assertion, on Monday the defence led their first witness Senior Superintendent ‘Malichaba Talasi who was in 2016 stationed at Leribe Police Station.

Advocate Karabo Mohau (KC) who is representing the first accused in the matter, Superintendent Thabo Tsukulu, told the court that although they have not had access to the documents, they will continue with the case. He stated that it has been eight long years since his client was arrested adding that the case has dragged-on for far too long.
